Non-Invasive Facial Surgery—Japanese Kogao Therapy

We can’t really change the fact that women’s face can get wider, looser and even covered with wrinkles as we age. While “Kogao” a.k.a small face was set as a golden standard for Asian women, some can take the risks going through plastic surgeries or minor aesthetic procedures to reduce the size of their jawlines, some would just accept the fact that they are merely growing old.

Japanese created Kogao Therapy to suit many Asian women’s desire for getting a “Kogao” look. We know many people tried this for aesthetic purpose but it is really beyond that. Other than aesthetic purposes, Kogao Therapy benefits the lymphatic health and corrects facial structures such as asymmetrical face caused by sleeping and chewing food on one side, and tightening of facial muscles due to teeth grinding. What are the benefits of the treatment? Other than aesthetic purposes, can Japanese Kogao Therapy be beneficial to your health?

Manipulation on meridian points at a deep level stimulates the production of collagen and skin regeneration, thereby restores skin elasticity and reduces wrinkles and and aging process. It also helps in correcting and contouring the jawline.

Other than aesthetic purposes, this therapy manipulates on the lymph nodes to remove toxins from the lymphatic systems, improving blood circulation, and immunity. Not to mention that it helps in deep relaxation, relieves pain and discomforts from the neck, face, and scalp.

Is Japanese Kogao Therapy safe? Is it non-invasive and natural?

Although Japanese Kogao treatment is natural, non-invasive and generally safe for adults, patients with cancer, autoimmune disease, and pregnant women are not advised to undergo this therapy.

What are the procedure of this therapy?

The treatment is about 45 minutes. It begins with facial cleansing to prevent the intrusion of dirt and make-ups into the intradermal tissues, followed by deep massaging with fingertips on the meridian points of the face. While the therapy improves blood circulation and absorption, it is the optimal timing to apply the mask as well as drinking a cup of hot tea after the therapy.

Will there be any discomforts during therapy?

You’ll definitely feel the pressures applied on the meridian points with some soreness during the therapy. Some common side effects of the therapy are soreness and redness that would probably lasts for about half an hour.

What are the differences between Japanese Kogao Therapy and Gua Sha?

The main differences between them are Kogao therapy is less invasive and doesn’t leave any petechiae where Gua Sha is a practice of repeated pressed strokes on the surface of the skin with a scraping massage tool which will usually leave blemishes after the therapy. Gua Sha is an ancient Chinese healing technique used all over the body to improve blood circulation and lymphatic drainage, while Japanese Kogao Therapy targets on facial meridian points that help in improving facial structures, although they have similar effects.
